Why some stores say October 14
Konami's announced date is October 15, 2026, measured against New York time. Digital storefronts unlock games at a fixed clock time, and that moment falls on a different calendar day depending on where you live — which is why a handful of regional listings display October 14. Both dates refer to the same single global release; nothing is launching a day early for anyone Konami Wikipedia.
What kind of Castlevania this is
The game was announced at PlayStation's State of Play on February 12, 2026, as the series' 40th-anniversary project PlayStation Blog. It is a 2D exploration-action game in the Metroidvania tradition — and because the developers are the Dead Cells studios, Konami clarified up front that it will not use roguelike progression, calling it a freeform action-exploration title in the classic Castlevania line Wikipedia. The setting is Paris in 1499, twenty-three years after the events of Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse, and the protagonist is Rose Belmont, daughter of Trevor Belmont and Sypha Belnades Wikipedia.
The development setup is unusual. Konami is building it with Evil Empire and Motion Twin, the two studios behind Dead Cells, which already collaborated with Konami on Dead Cells' well-received Return to Castlevania expansion.
